Description
Allan Border’s squad were unfancied and given little hope of making much of an impression at the 1987 Reliance World Cup in India and Pakistan. They had lost an Ashes series at home to old enemies England on the back of losing a series to New Zealand, with a group of youngsters like Steve Waugh, David Boon and Craig McDermott being developed after an exodus of experienced players through both retirement and the South Africa rebel Tour. They ended up beating England in the final in Calcutta and sparking the start of what became a glorious period in Australian cricket history. This original autograph sheet, with signatures in biro, was sent by the old Australian Cricket Board by mail to the UK and is still in immaculate condition with just folds slightly visible.
