Manchester City beat Newcastle United in the 1976 League Cup final at Wembley and it remained their last major trophy win for over 30 years so this match was a special achievement for City fans, as it saw them through a silverware drought! Players who signed the official match programme are: goal-scorers Peter Barnes and Dennis Tueart, goalkeeper Joe Corrigan, Tommy Booth, club stalwart Alan Oakes, Kenny Clements, Willie Donachie and Asa Hartford. They all personally signed the programme at an anniversary event in February ’26.
